In NWN, a Dungeon Master (DM) is able to become the director, scriptwriter, set builder, and all of the non-player characters (NPCs) in the adventure. DM-friendly modules are those which are designed with a DM in mind, with references and in-game tools that allow DMs to create the best and most immersive experience possible. The DM-Friendly Initiative (DMFI) provides a resource for DMs in the form of module certification, guidelines, and a free exchange of ideas.
